At the heart of Southport you'll find its Grade II listed pier. The oldest iron pier in the country, it has stood for over 150 years.
Take your pooch all the way down this free attraction and you really feel far away from land. With gorgeous views of Blackpool to the north and Liverpool to the south, this is a very scenic place to visit.
Along the pier you'll find benches, food stalls and a tram and land train taking passengers up and down (so watch out for that when your pooch is sniffing around).
The pier can get very busy in nice weather and is closed for the annual Southport Airshow. Opening times vary with the season, so check before visiting.
